No cattle from outside country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha: Livestock Minister
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said the government will not allow entry of any cattle from outside the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
He said this while speaking virtually at the inauguration of DNCC Digital Haat.
"About 1.19 lakh cattle are ready for sacrifice during Eid-ul-Azha. We did not allow cattle to come from outside the country during the past two Eid occassion. And there was no crisis of sacrificial animals," he said.
This year as well there are enough sacrificial animals in the country and the border security forces were instructed to stop cattle smuggling by all means.
He said local farmers have worked hard and invested in cattle rearing and they should be able to sell their cattle at fair price.
Modern slaughter-houses will be built in every municipality outside Dhaka where blood and waste can be processed in a hygienic manner.
Members of Parliament, DNCC officials, leaders of E-Commerce Association and Dairy Association were present at this virtual ceremony.
