Stern action for violation of party decisions: Ershad
Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad today warned his party leaders and activists of stern action if they do not comply with party decisions.
“Many people want to take my seat. Some of them have grown old. I urge them to hand over the party leadership to the younger generation,” the former military ruler said referring to Raushan Ershad, opposition leader in parliament and leader of a JP faction.
Addressing a joint meeting with the party’s grass root level leaders and activists at Gulshan, Ershad made the comments. Four JP lawmakers took part in today’s discussion boycotted by the followers of Raushan.
“We have to forget this: Ershad does not mean Jatiya Party; Jatiya Party is for all,” Ershad said.
The grass root level leaders urged the party’s cabinet members to step down from the cabinet and perform the duties of a true opposition properly. They also urged Ershad to step down from the post of special envoy to the prime minister.
Newly appointed JP Co-chairman GM Quader and Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, among others, addressed the discussion.
