‘Salman Shah was way ahead of his time’

Popular leading ladies of the current Bangladeshi film industry spoke to The Daily Star about films of Salman Shah they would have liked to star in.

Salman Shah was not only a beloved actor, but also a style icon. Today is the 27th death anniversary of the superstar. He passed away on September 6, 1996, leaving behind legions of fans. In his brief acting career, he starred in 27 films, most of which were blockbuster hits. Popular leading ladies of the current Bangladeshi film industry spoke to The Daily Star about films of Salman Shah they would have liked to star in.

"Salman Shah is my favourite hero of all time. I still watch his movies whenever they air on television. His performances leave me speechless. If I am asked to act in a movie starring Salman Shah, my first choice would be 'Anondo Osru'. I would have also liked to star opposite Salman Shah in 'Dola'," shares Mahiya Mahi.

In his brief acting career, Salman Shah starred in 27 films, most of which were blockbuster hits.

"I would like to play the role of Moushumi opposite Salman Shah in 'Keyamat Theke Keyamat'. Other than that, it would also be a pleasure to be the heroine in 'Jibon Songshar', 'Anondo Osru', 'Shujon Shokhi' and 'Shopner Thikana'", says Bobby.

Bidya Sinha Mim shared that she would love to play the role of Shabnur in the film, "Jibon Shongshar", opposite Salman Shah. "I would have also liked to star in 'Keyamot Theke Keyamot' and 'Anondo Osru'", she adds.

"Salman Shah is one of my favourite actors. He was stylish, smart, and fashionable. He was way ahead of his time. Even today, people follow fashion trends that were started by him," says Shabnom Bubly. "I would have liked to work with him in four of his films. They are:  'Tomake Chai', 'Shujon Shokhi', 'Keyamat Theke Keyamat' and 'Shopner Prithibi'."

"I love the pair of Salman Shah and Shabnur. I have watched all their movies multiple times. The Salman Shah movies that I would have loved to star in are 'Jibon Shongshar', 'Keyamat Theke Keyamat', 'Anondo Osru' and 'Ontare Ontare', shares Puja Chery.

Salman Shah made his film debut in 1993 with the film "Keyamat Theke Keyamat", directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. Afterwards, he teamed up with Moushumi for the movies "Ontare Ontare", "Den Mohor",  and "Sneho". On the other hand, Shabnur and Salman Shah have worked together in 13 films, including "Shujon Shokhi", "Bikkhobh", "Moha Milon", "Bichar Hobe", "Tomake Chai", and "Jibon Shongshar".

 Salman Shah's other notable films include "Prem Juddho", "Konna Dan". "Shopner Thikana" and "Asha Bhalobasha" among others.
