Once associated, celebrities distancing themselves from Evaly
Celebrities, who were previously associated with Evaly even a few months ago, have started distancing themselves from the brand following the cases over embezzlement.
Evaly is being investigated for allegedly deceiving thousands of their consumers.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested the e-commerce platform's CEO Mohammad Rassel and Chairperson Shamima Nasrin on September 16.
Renowned singer Tahsan Khan was associated with the company in March as a brand ambassador and "Chief Goodwill Officer".
"Due to the non-disclosure clauses, I can't say much," the actor told The Daily Star. "All I can say right now is I had terminated the contract in May, but I was not allowed to disclose the news."
The actor had appeared in two live programmes for the company. He was also supposed to do ad films for the company's promotion.
The Dipankar Dipon directorial film "Operation Sundarban", is also 'powered' by Evaly. Their name also appeared on the Bangladesh Cricket Team's jersey for a while.
"I have never promoted the company publicly, nor have I influenced anyone personally to invest in it," said Sabnam Faria, who was appointed as Head of PR, Media, and Communication at Evaly.
The actress also said that a week after she joined Evaly, the company changed their policy from prepayment to "cash on arrival".
She also claimed that besides her official duties, she had no other contact with the company or its staff.
"I did not make an announcement when I left the job, because I was afraid of getting trolled online," said Sabnam Faria. "Many media outlets wrote that I left because I did not get my salary, which is absolutely not true!"
Sabnam Faria had shared the news of Jamuna Group's rumoured investment in Evaly from her Facebook account, which went viral. The actress later removed the post and said she has deactivated her personal account.
"I know that the company is going through a tough time, and I hope they will stay beside their consumers," she said.
Actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila got associated with Evaly as the face of their lifestyle products in May.
"I don't want to comment on Evaly. I got connected to them in May 2021 through Arif R Hossain, for little more than a month -- completely unaware of what was going on," informed the actress. "I left for Kolkata towards the end of June, and suddenly all of these scandals started. My contract is naturally nullified now."
Mithila also told The Daily Star that it is unfortunate that celebrities have trusted the company, like millions of others did.
"I have endorsed many brands. However, this is the first time that something like this happened to me," she concluded.
