Ferdous and Purnima resume shooting for ‘Gangchil’
Popular on-screen pair Ferdous and Purnima are all set to resume shooting for their much-awaited film "Gangchil."
Based on the novel written by the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, the movie is directed by Noyeem Imtiaz Neamul.
The first two days of the shooting will take place at the capital while the rest of the scenes will be shot outdoors.
Actor Ferdous confirmed the matter to the Daily Star that the movie is back in production again.
"Gangchil is our dream project but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we could not complete the film. Now that we are back on the sets again, we are planning on completing the movie soon."
In the movie, Ferdous plays the role of a journalist while Purnima plays the role of an NGO worker.
"As I am a student of journalism, I have a lot of journalist friends who are quite close to me. To play the role of a journalist in this movie truly means a lot to me," Ferdous mentions.
Actress Purnima also emphasised how she fell in love with the script.
"When I read the script, I immediately fell in love with it. And I knew it in my heart that I wanted to come back to the silver screen with this movie," the actress added.
When asked about the reason why the movie took so much time for shooting, the director noted that it all started with an accident.
"While shooting for the movie both Ferdous and Purnima suffered from minor injuries in a motorbike accident on set in Noakhali in 2019. We could not shoot for the movie back then so we had to send back the entire unit to Dhaka," added Neamul
"Later on, when we finally resumed the shooting in January this year, both Purnima and Anisur Rahman Milon got sick. So we were back to square one again. On top of that, there was also the fear of Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions, so we really couldn't do much about our situation. However, now that we are back in production again, we are planning on completing the shoot soon."
The movie also stars popular actors such as Tariq Anam Khan, Anisur Rahman Milon, and Ahsanul Haque Minu in important roles. Popular Indian actress Rituparna Sengupta will also be seen in a pivotal role in the movie.
