Germany is counting on multilateralism. Did you know how strong the country's international involvement is? 15 examples.

1. Germany is a member or an observer in more than 80 international organizations and is party to several hundred multilateral agreements.

2. Germany is the second largest contributor to the development system of the United Nations.

3. Germany is the second largest donor of humanitarian aid to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).

4. Germany is the fourth largest contributor to the United Nations peacekeeping operations.

5. Germany is the largest state donor to the World Health Organization (WHO), and by far the largest contributor to the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies.

6. Germany is the second largest contributor to the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator and supports the participating organizations, such as the WHO, Gavi and Global Fund.

7. Germany is the second largest donor to the United Nations World Food Programme.

8. Germany is ranked fifth among the major refugee receiving countries.

9. Germany is currently taking part in multilateral missions and operations with almost 4,800 members of the armed forces.

10. Germany is the fourth largest shareholder in the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

12. Germany initiated Resolution 2467 which was passed by the UN Security Council to end conflict-related sexual violence and augment the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda.

13. In 2022 Germany will take over the G7 presidency and wants to use it to promote multilateralism.

14. In 2023 Germany will take on the leadership of the NATO spearhead Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

15. In May 2021 the German government published the White Paper on Multilateralism in support of its efforts to strengthen and further the international order.
