FB, Insta, Whatsapp crashed because they don’t pay VAT: Minister
Misinformation Minister ATM Meghla Banik claimed on Wednesday that Facebook crashed because they don't pay VAT on time, or at all.
"Why do you think Facebook and Instant [Instagram], and that encrypted chatting service crashed? It's because they don't pay taxes. We have been asking them for years to open an office here, hire local people, and pay their VAT accordingly. But all they can do is open up offices in 'low-tax' European cities, like the capital of fake Ireland and be friends with that old singer Bono from You too!"

The misinformation minister also said Facebook has been struggling to contain whistleblowers who have defected from their company, alleging that the recent crash could have been pre-planned to delete records before any congressional hearings.
"Everyone does it. It's nothing new. Mugabe did it, Gaddafi did it," said the minister. "If you don't have the technology, just slow down internet speed so the files become inaccessible. Facebook itself is the technology, so they had to shut down its servers.
"Only if they paid their VAT on time, this day would not have come to pass. The lizard king should take note before it's too late," added the minister.
On Tuesday morning, the Low Court bench of the Technology Tribunal-6 sought a government response to know why Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp's crash should not be termed illegal.
"There are no foreign TV channels, now there is no internet. How can our children have wholesome growth without the healthy influences of highly-opiumated teenagers on social spheres?" asked the bench.
Facebook, and its family apps Instagram and Whatsapp experienced a 7-hour global outage on October 4. The company lost almost 7 billion dollars in share value, while Twitter remained strong, without any new user acquisition or share profits.
