Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has hired lawyer Amit Desai, who represented fellow actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case, to appear for his son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case.

 Desai appeared for Aryan on October 11. In the bail plea, the lawyer said that keeping Aryan in custody, especially when there has been no recovery of drugs from him, is not required.

Aryan was arrested on October 3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau raided a Goa-bound cruise ship off the Mumbai coast, and claimed to have recovered drugs from some people. He is currently in judicial custody and lodged at the Arthur Road prison in Mumbai.

Salman was seen visiting Shah Rukh's residence, Mannat, after Aryan's arrest earlier this month.  

Desai had appeared for Salman in 2015 and had got him bail, challenging a lower court order that sentenced the actor to five-year rigorous imprisonment.

The court will hear the bail application today (October 13).
