He said, ‘I want to marry you, Orsha'

Nazia Haque Orsha mesmerised audiences with her acting prowess over the years on screen. The former Lux Superstar contestant is currently working in a number of projects in full swing.

In a conversation with The Daily Star, Orsha shared one of her most favourite encounters with a fan.

It was many years ago, I was student of University of Dhaka. As I was heading towards the campus with my sister in a rickshaw, we heard someone loudly say, "I want to marry you, Orsha. I am a big fan of yours."

My sister noticed at first and told me.  I laughed, as people calling out to me on the streets is a part of my daily life.

After many years, last year, I was invited to Jheel Kutum Café, which is the first film-themed café in Bangladesh. The owner of the café, Annando Kutum asked me if I remembered the incident.

At first, I couldn't relate, however, when he described the incident in detail and that he was that fan, I was pretty embarrassed. I never thought a fan could come forward in this way!

He is still in touch with me and admires me a lot. He still gets nervous while talking to me.

I believe it is very important to respect artistes, which is unusual these days. But I am really lucky. Since I mostly prefer working on critically inclined projects rather than popular ones, the fans I have are genuine.
