Tigers return after disastrous T20 WC
The first lot of Bangladesh cricketers returned to the country in the evening today following a disastrous T20 World Cup in the UAE.
Bangladesh cricketers were scheduled to board two separate flights from Dubai today after their run in the World Cup ended with an eight-wicket thumping against Australia yesterday.
In the first flight, eight cricketers including the likes of Mohammad Naim, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain and three members of the team management returned to the capital.
Meanwhile, the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Mahedi Hasan and Nurul Hasan are supposed to arrive on the second flight, which is supposed to touch ground at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:00pm tonight.
None of the cricketers who returned on the first flight were eager to talk to the media.
However, four senior cricketers -- skipper Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur rahim, Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed -- along with the members of the coaching staff stayed back in the UAE and will return in a week.
Bangladesh had an abysmal T20 World Cup campaign, in which the Tigers lost six of the eight games they played. The losses included a shock defeat to Scotland in their tournament opener and five out of five defeats in the Super 12 stage.
Twice the Tigers were bundled out for under 100 runs. They even recorded their second-lowest team total in T20Is against Australia when they were made all out for just a meagre 73.
