Ashraf links ongoing violence to global terrorism

Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam today said country's ongoing violence is part of global terrorist activities by religious fundamentalists.

He also said BNP, Al-Badr and Razakar of Bangladesh are no less than the international terrorists groups IS (Islamic State), Taliban and al-Qaeda.

Ashraf, also the LGRD minister, made the remarks while speaking at a brief rally on Manik Miah Avenue in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council organised a procession with around 100 trucks protesting ongoing violence and anarchy during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's indefinite blockade and hartals. After the rally, Syed Ashraf inaugurated the procession.

The AL spokesperson said like Dhaka, there have been bleeding in Libya, Paris, Denmark, Egypt and Russia and all are related to the international terrorism.

"Khaleda Zia's movement is neither for caretaker government nor election; it's part of the international terrorism. Our enemies are in and outside the country," Syed Ashraf said.

"If we fail to resist the enemies, there will be no civilisation," he viewed.

At the rally, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan announced not to return home before ousting BNP chief Khaleda Zia from politics.

Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Helal Morshed Khan presided over the rally that was also addressed by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Muzammel Hoque.

After the rally, the procession started from the Manik Mia Avenue with around 100 trucks and near 1000 people holding flags of Muktijoddha Sangsad. The procession paraded different city streets and ended at the National Parade Ground.
