Lying is the new position of strength: Cricket captain
The Bobcats lost the Test match, even though it rained more than two days out of five in Merepoor.
"How can you score runs if you defend? It is shocking that you have to ask this," the captain, whose name really does not matter, said. "It is very difficult to play defensively on this wicket. Actually, it's very difficult to play."
Even though they had to keep 20 wickets intact for less than two days, most of the Bobcats got out trying to play aggressive shots. On the second of the two days, they almost saved the match when they played some defensive cricket mixed in with judicious aggression, but the captain insisted that they lost because the team played too defensively.
On the fourth day, the captain was out while trying to take a single defensively, and fell over trying to complete the run, which resulted in a priceless photograph.
That was the photo that set off the trend and the hashtag. When this reporter caught up with a man lying down on the street and taking a selfie, he asked the man what the hashtag meant: whether the "lying" meant being untruthful or just lying down.
"Does it matter? The captain is doing it, it must be worth something," the man said and took the picture.
