There is no evidence that proves I ‘bought’ votes: Zayed Khan

Zayed Khan has been elected as the general secretary for the third time in a row at the Film Artistes Association elections. He has received a total of 176 votes, winning over his opponent noted actress Nipun, who had received 163 votes.

In a candid chat with The Daily Star, Zayed Khan talks about the elections, his experiences, and his plans for the future.

You have made three wins in a row at the Cholochitro Shilpi Samity elections. What is the reason behind this consistency?

If you work for the artistes, they will surely cast their votes in your favour. I have been beside them in good and bad times and thus, they placed their faith in me.

The artistes have clearly presented their opinion on their ballot papers, and the results are now known to all.

You were accused of 'buying' votes at the elections yesterday. What do you have to say in that regard?

There is no evidence that proves that I have bought votes in exchange for money yesterday. These were false claims made to sabotage my image, and I pay no heed to rumours.

The blame-game has been going on for a while now but I never expected it would reach such absurd limits.

Why are you so keen about the Film Artistes' Association elections?

I love my fellow artistes, and have been a part of this organisation for a long time. I want to employ positive changes in favour of my community, and I don't see a reason to be blamed for loving my peers.

What new experiences and responsibilities are you expecting from the association this time?

I would like to thank all my supporters who have expressed their love towards me once again this term. I want to keep my previous pursuits active, while venturing out new activities.

However, I will deeply miss working under the guidance of Misha Sawdagor. We have been inseparable for 4 years and had a very good time together.

Nevertheless, I look forward to making new bonds, and enjoying experiences that come my way.
