Dhaka trade fair ends today

Dhaka International Trade Fair

The 26th edition of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will come to an end today at its new venue in the capital's Purbachal.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is scheduled to hold a press conference at the fair site to announce the closure of the DITF for this year.

Munshi will brief journalists at the fair site at 4pm.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the fair virtually on January 1.

Some 227 companies from 11 countries participated at the fair this year.

In 2020, the DITF was cancelled because of severe fallouts of Covid 19.

Apart from Bangladesh, companies from India, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand and South Korea are participating in this year's edition of the fair.

Everyday the fair remained open from 10 am to 9 pm in the weekdays and in the weekends the fair continued until 10pm.

The companies showcased their goods in 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions and in 162 stalls, where some 15 food shops operated.

The entry fee for an adult was fixed at Tk 40 and Tk 20 for minors while the entry was free for freedom fighters.
