BCB working to have fifty per cent crowd in Ban-Afg series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been trying to convince the concerned authorities to get a permit for at least fifty per cent capacity in the stadium during the upcoming Bangladesh-Afghanistan series, starting with the ODI series from February 23 in Chattogram.
The board had a plan to hold the recently-concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a maximum number of spectators in the stadium but had to cancel it following the spread of the Omicron variant.
The BCB, however, had allowed spectators in the stadium from the playoffs of the BPL but allowed only around 3000 to 4000 fans.
"As per government instruction, we have been allowed to have around 3,000 to 4000 spectators in the stadium in Chattogram while around 5,000 in Mirpur. Our board president [Nazmul Hassan] is working hard to get permission from the government to allow more spectators. We want at least fifty per cent spectators," said the chairman of the BCB's media committee Tanvir Islam Titu in Mirpur today.
Bangladesh will play three ODIs against Afghanistan in Chattogram and two T20Is in Mirpur.
