‘Jilapi Career’: Self-help career handbook for youth out now
Jilapi Career (Odommo Prokash, 2022), a book written for undergraduate students and young professionals, has been published and released at the Ekushey Boi Mela today. The book covers multiple aspects of early career experience, starting from planning one's career to seeking mentorship and thriving in a work environment. The book has been co-authored by Md. Tajdin Hassan and Farhat Chowdhury Zishan—the debut work of the latter, and the fourth book written by Tajdin Hassan.
"We wanted to write a book on topics that nobody talks about. I tried to instill my 15 years of wisdom into this book; all the little things that I have learned while working in top MNCs like BAT, Chevron, DHL, as well as The Daily Star, the largest circulating English newspaper of Bangladesh", Tajdin Hassan said. "Even my current role as the CMO of Daraz has taught me a lot of things, which I have tried to share here with young readers. I am really looking forward to their feedback."
"I hope this book will be a good resource for the enthusiastic youth as they try to equip themselves with 21st century skills and become better leaders", said Tajdin Hassan.
Farhat Chowdhury Zishan shared his thoughts about his debut as a writer: "I've been writing for as long as I can remember. So, it was about time that I took a leap of faith and made a complete piece of work."
"We tried to keep the language as simple as possible", Zishan shares about the book, "with many pop culture references that anyone in their 20s and early 30s will understand. We want the readers to think about their careers and plan them accordingly, but also want them to laugh at the jokes and puns that are in this book."
"Our careers are full of twists and turns, just like jilapis, and that is the core essence of the book—to help you untangle the twists and turns of a jilapi-like career."
The book has a dedicated Facebook page that readers can join and discuss career issues with the forum. The writers plan on hosting live webinars to help out the group's members.
Jilapi Career is available at stall number 16 of Odommo Prokash at the Boi Mela. It is also available online on Rokomari.com.
