Kuakata's conserved coastal forest being razed

Climate change has put the entire world at risk of natural calamities. Bangladesh faces a greater risk because it is a coastal country.

Miscreants, on the other hand, are destroying the forest in the Gangamati area of Patuakhali's Kuakata beach by cutting down trees in the conserved forest area. The administration too seems unconcerned about taking care of the forest.

As a result, the residents living along the coast are frightened about the damage and destruction of the natural wall forest.

Sohrab Hossain, reporter from The Daily Star, went to Kuakata Beach to explore the current situation of the mangrove forest. Todays' Star on the Spot shares his experiences.
