Why is Pahela Baishakh celebrated on different dates in West Bengal and Bangladesh?
This is the year 1429 in the Bengali calendar. However, since many argue that if Emperor Akbar introduced the Bengali calendar 438 years ago, why is it the year 1429 in the calendar?
Also, was Emperor Akbar the one who made the calendar or was it actually King Shashanka of Gauda Kingdom? And why is it such that the first of Baishakh is celebrated on April 14 in Bangladesh, and on April 15 in West Bengal?
Let's find the answers in Star Explains.
