Earth Day 2022: Google doodle shows stark images of climate change
Google today is marking Earth Day 2022 with glaring satellite images of climate change.
The time-lapse Gifs showing melting glaciers, retreating snow cover, deforestation and coral bleaching are meant to remind its users about humanity's impact on climate and environment, reports The Guardian.
Google doodle uses the four Gifs created from satellite imagery and photographs from The Ocean Agency. The Gifs will rotate throughout the day.
Some of the images show glacial retreat at the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania between December 1986 and 2020 and glacial melt in Sermersooq, Greenland, between December 2000 and 2020.
Other images show the result of a coral bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef and Harz forests deforestation in Elend, Germany.
