3 traders fined for illegally stocking, overcharging soybean oil in Rajshahi
Three traders of Rajshahi city were fined Tk 75,000 today (May 10, 2022) for illegally stocking soybean oil and selling the edible oil at prices higher than the maximum retail price (MRP).
The Directorate of National Consumer Right Protection (DNCRP) conducted the operation and took the action, our Rajshai staff correspondent reports quoting Hasan-al-Maruf, deputy director of Rajshahi Divisional Office of DNCRP.
The team, assisted by police, raided Messrs. Humayun's store in Sahebbazar area and fined it Tk 20,000 for illegally stocking soybean oil, he said.
The team also seized 132 bottles of soybean oil from the store and the store owner was forced to sell the seized bottles at MRP.
During the same operation, Messrs. Pappu and Brothers of Sahebbazar area were also fined Tk 5,000.
Nazrul Islam, the owner of the company, was selling bottled soybean oil at a price higher than MRP.
Besides, Messrs. Nurunnabi Traders of Baharampur Mor area was fined Tk 50,000 as Nurunnabi, the owner of the company, was selling unpacked soybean oil at a higher price.
The three traders immediately paid off the fine, added Hassan-al-Maruf.
