Lankans bowled out at last, Bangladesh begin second innings
Bangladesh bowlers have something to smile about after a tiresome day in the field on day four of the second Test of the two-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Shakib Al Hasan bagged a fifer while Ebadot Hossain scalped four wickets as Sri Lanka's last five wickets fell in a hurry, in the span of 41 runs. The visitors end their first innings at 506 all out after 165.1 overs, with a handy lead of 141 runs. This happens to be the 10th time Sri Lanka have reached 500 runs against Bangladesh in Tests.
Along the way, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal both scored centuries and had negotiated the Tigers bowling with ease in the first two sessions of the day. However, following the Tea interval, with a run short of a double-century stand for the sixth wicket, Ebadot removed Chandimal, on 124, after which the pacer combined with Shakib in cleaning up the tail. However, Mathews remained unbeaten on 145 as the last batter Asitha Fernando was run out by Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib.
This was Shakib's 19th fifer in Tests, the 14th in Bangladesh and the third against the Lankans. Ebadot, on the other hand, took more than three wickets for the first time on home soil.
