Scintilla Science Club to organise 65th Annual Science Festival

Established in 1957, Scintilla Science Club from Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School is one of Dhaka's oldest school-level science clubs. The club has a prominent history of hosting exciting, interactive fests and workshops that bring young people from all across Dhaka together. This year, after a long break due to the pandemic, the club is on its way to arranging its 65th rendition of the Science Festival on June 9-11, with June 4 being dedicated entirely to Olympiads.

The festival is buzzing with events for everyone to participate in, including Science Project Display, Scrapbook Display, Olympiads (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Aero-Astro, IQ), quiz events (General Knowledge Quiz, Sci-Fi Book Based Quiz, Mega Quiz), Extempore Speech, Crosswords, Conceptual Videography, Sci-Fi Story Writing, Robotics exhibitions and many more.

The event schedule this year is rich with events, with most of them keeping the option of spot registrations. The fest will take place on the 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th of June. The Olympiads will take place on June 4. With 650+ online responses, Olympiads are a key attraction this year. Spot registrations will also be available for Olympiads. Right after on the same day, SHOUT, the youth supplement of The Daily Star, will be taking a workshop on science fiction story writing with participants from across the city.

June 8 is dedicated to project setup and sci-fi wall magazine submission. June 9 will launch the festival officially with the school's signature events: Science Project and Scrapbook Display, including other events such as paleontology exhibition, robotics exhibition, crosswords, gaming, idea presentation, and sci-fi book based quiz. In addition to Science Project Display and Scrapbook Display, June 10 will have Extempore Speech, Programming Contest, and more. June 11 is the final day dedicated to Science Project Judgment, Gaming Finals, and the closing ceremony.

This year as a highlight, the Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will be present at the inauguration ceremony. The club looks forward to arranging a grand fest and immersing the participants in an innovative experience this year.
