Ex-BJP leader Naveen Jindal claims family threatened by “Islamic fundamentalists”

Former BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal, who was expelled from the party following controversy over his remarks on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), has claimed that his family is in danger of being attacked by "Islamic fundamentalists", according to NDTV.

"I humbly request all not to share any information about me and my family with anyone. Despite my requests, many people are posting my residential address on social media. My family faces a threat from Islamic fundamentalists," he tweeted in Hindi yesterday (June 11, 2022).

Jindal also shared screenshots of a phone number from which he claimed to have received threats and urged Delhi Police to take action, NDTV reports.

Jindal was expelled from the BJP last week after the party took action against him and national spokesperson Nupur Sharma for remarks about Prophet Muhammad that sparked outrage India and abroad, the report said.

A former journalist, Jindal has courted controversy through his social media posts in the past too.

A case was filed against him in Punjab for allegedly sharing a doctored video of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on his Twitter account, according to NDTV.
