Top reasons why concerts are good for your soul

Amongst all the noise, uncertainty and mundaneness, the hearts of all the Dhakaite and netizens alike burned like embers in the recent hit concert of Coke Studio Bangla. Despite the torrential hammer of the god, people still showed up and made it into the show, which rocked people across generations. This only reinforced the idea of why we need more live musical concerts now.
Just think, what does life in a post-pandemic Dhaka have to offer? Fast broadband Internet, imported groceries and goods, and the favourite pass time of all the residents of Dhaka — restaurant hopping. After making the umpteenth round of all the bistros, eateries and food courts, there really is not much to do for us besides losing weight at an overpriced gym. If that is not enough, many city dwellers are still recovering from the fear of open and crowded spaces. Such an issue gave a new definition to the phrase "The day the music died."

Having said that, the following are some of the reasons why concerts come as a sigh of relief, especially now:

The strongest bonds between friends can be made through live music

Have you ever made a friend through a similar taste in music? If you have then you already know that it is a special bond. There is something about a shared love for a band in a live concert that creates a deeply personal and emotional experience. This makes friendships stronger and create moments that last a lifetime.

You get to be yourself in a Concert

No one cares to judge others in a concert. In its own way, it is a judgement-free zone. Can you name any other place where you get to be that? At a concert, you are surrounded by people who are just like you — enjoying and feeling the same positive energy of music as you are!

Concerts give you a sense of community

Among many things, concerts also stand for the irrelevance of different cultures and backgrounds. No matter when or where your journey began, everyone surrounding you is there for the same reason once you walk through those venue doors.

Oh, the stories!

Life is all but the stories we create by living through experiences. Some of the best memories to share are ones surrounded by music. Whether it was your first concert, the tickets you left back home, friends being at the wrong venue, or the best show you have ever seen — you will have a story to tell that few others do. These once-in-a-lifetime rare moments will be only yours and yours to tell. No one can take them away from you.
