Prophet remarks: Police block march to Indian High Commission

Police blocked the march heading towards the Indian High Commission in Dhaka at Shantinagar intersection around 12:20pm today.
Several thousand protestors, led by Islami Andolon Bangladesh, started the march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 12:05pm – following a protest rally against the offensive remarks by suspended BJP leaders on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The march arrived at the Shantinagar intersection without any untoward incident. To block the procession, police set up barricades on both sides of the road at Shantinagar intersection.
The protestors were seen leaving the area a few minutes later.

Vehicles were seen stuck on the busy street due to the march. The area has become extremely congested.
