People of 40 Moulvibazar villages stranded in flood
A total of 55.2 mm rainfall was recorded in Moulvibazar in the last 24 hours. In urban areas, the flood water decreased slightly today (June 18, 2022) as compared to yesterday, but at least 40 villages of the district remain waterlogged due to incessant rain.
According to the district Water Development Board, water is rising in the Manu, Dhalai and Kushiyara rivers.
At least 10 villages have been inundated after the Fanai River breached the embankment at Karmadha union in Kulaura. Besides, thousands of people from 30 villages of Talimpur, Barni, Sujanagar and North Shahbazpur unions of Barlekha upazila are marooned. If the rain does not stop, the water will increase further.

"From Thursday night, it first started raining lightly and then heavy rain followed. Large areas of the city have been submerged in water due to the rains. People in the city are terrified. Roads are under water in several areas. We are moving our valuables as water has entered the houses," said Nilufer Yasmin, a resident of Arambagh area of Moulvibazar city.
Municipality Mayor Fazlur Rahman said, "Excessive rain has caused waterlogging in some places and roads, including low-lying areas of the city. I expect the water to recede once the rain stops."
Kulaura upazila
At least 10 villages have been inundated in Kulaura as the embankment of the Fanai River broke in Karmadha union.
