Former ICC umpire now sells clothes in a Lahore market

He was rated as one of the best umpires in world cricket and for his brilliance on the field former Pakistani umpire Asad Rouf was even included in the ICC's Elite Panel as well.

But following allegations of corruption in the 2013 Indian Premier League, Rouf was eventually banned by the BCCI as things took an unexpected turn in his career.

The 66-year-old was banned for five years by the BCCI in 2016 after the disciplinary committee found him guilty of corrupt practises as he was accused of receiving gifts from bookies and was proven involved in match-fixing scandal.

There were also allegations of sexual exploitation against Rouf by an Indian model in 2012 but he denied that. Rauf, who officiated in 170 international matches including 49 Tests, 98 ODIs, and 23 T20Is, retired from umpiring and nowadays is operating a clothing and shoe business in Lahore's Landa Bazar, according to Pakistani media.

During a recent interview with a Pakistani news channel, Rauf was quoted as saying, "I haven't been in touch with the game since 2013, because once I leave something I leave it completely."

The Landa Bazar in Lahore is known as a budget clothing market where Rauf, owns a cloth and shoe store to make the ends meet.
