Back to work after Eid holidays

The couple of days after Eid holidays are over, in countries like Bangladesh where a large section of urban dwellers rush back to their rural roots for festivals, offices often open up to slow pace of work and a temporarily smaller workforce. For those of us stuck at work because somebody must man the ship, it can get very boring very fast, especially if work pressure is lower than usual. Here is how to make that time a bit more bearable.

Catch up with colleagues

A slow day is ideal to catch up with the people you work with every day, but might not have the time to just hang out with. This applies to not just the person in the next cubicle or the same team, rather venture a little further out of the usual sphere — who knows, you could end up making a new friend.

Tinker around with new apps

Modern technology is a gift that keeps giving, but it also requires you to keep up. A couple of slow work days are perfect to look up, find, and learn few new tools in a non-intensive and fun way. Think of all the creative apps for drawing, editing, picture manipulation or such.

Word or number games

Bored minds are easily distracted and need some fun! Word, puzzles, and logic games are quite fun to keep engaged and learn on the go.

Plan ahead

Most offices have activities based on special national days or festivals, and require planning accordingly. This planning and research become more of a hassle when work is in progress at full steam. Use these slow days to plan ahead, and enrich the idea bank to help your future self.

Catch up on some reading

There is no shortage of material about anything and everything nowadays. Pick whatever catches your fancy and read up, as much as you want. Knowing more about things will never be a shortcoming, no matter where you work.
