Roksana hunting for bronze

Bangladesh's Roksana Akter was set to compete in the bronze-deciding match against a second seed Turkish archer in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games after suffering a narrow 148-146 defeat to top-seed Yesmin Ucar Bostan of Turkiye in the semifinal of women's individual compound event in Konya yesterday.

After the country's renowned archers failed in individual recurve events, Roksana put up a great fight against the top-seed by matching her 59 points in first two sets. However, Yesmin was more accurate than Roksana afterwards, hitting 60 out of 60 over the next two sets while Roksana could score 57.

In the fifth and final set, Roksana hit 30 out of 30 but was still behind Yesmin, who put the game to bed soon after.

Ruman, Rubel, Sagor, Diya, Beauty, Nasir, Puspita and Shamoli Roy were eliminated either from pre-quarterfinals or quarterfinals to dash Bangladesh's hopes of winning a medal in an individual event.
