No end to 'new beginnings'
Buzzwords are never too far from the lips of Bangladesh players and officials whenever a series is on the horizon.
From 'positive intent' to 'fearless cricket', they have always emerged with new catchphrases, most recently becoming lost in the haze of a 'new philosophy' ahead of the Asia Cup in UAE from August 27.
But one buzzword that is perhaps common in Bangladesh cricket is 'the new beginning', which has been uttered whenever Bangladesh are going through a bad time.
This time around, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan Papon to team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon have been talking about a new beginning in T20Is, the format where Bangladesh have been struggling most.
When asked about the repeated 'new beginning' slogans, Bangladesh T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan said today during a press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur that he was not sure whether there was any end to 'new beginnings' in Bangladesh cricket.
"We cannot deny that this type of talking points to our failure. It's also a question whether we are hearing it for the last time. Next time we may hear again that we are going for a new beginning. But if we don't try, then how can we know. It's important to try," Shakib said.
