Shakib named Icon Player for Bangla Tigers

Premier all-rounder and Bangladesh Test and T20I captain, Shakib Al Hasan, has been chosen as Bangla Tigers' Icon Player for the forthcoming season of The Abu Dhabi T10.

"I am delighted to represent Bangla Tigers as an icon player for the next season of T10 League," Shakib posted on his official Facebook account today.

The six-team tournament features one Icon Player from each side, who will pass their wealth of experience to their respective teammates. And with Shakib – currently the number one-ranked all-rounder in ODI cricket and the number two-ranked all-rounder in T20I – in their ranks, Bangla Tigers' squad would greatly benefit.   

"It's always a lovely feeling to play for a franchise who are representing Bangladesh around the world. Looking forward to a new experience," added Shakib, who is approaching 8,000 runs and 550 wickets in 466 T20 games, which includes 99 T20Is.   

The sixth edition of The Abu Dhabi T10 -- the world's only 10-over cricket tournament to be sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) – is scheduled to be held from November 23 to December 4 this year at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in UAE.
