Sourav Ganguly set to continue as BCCI president
Sourav Ganguly, former India captain and the president of the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI), can seek a second successive term as the board president after the India Supreme Court today allowed the amendments proposed to the board's constitution to ease the mandatory cooling-off period requirement.
For someone like Ganguly -- who had also been the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal from 2015 to 2019 – the pre-existing clauses barred him from seeking election to BCCI for having served two consecutive terms at the state level.
The latest amendments mean that Ganguly, as well as BCCI secretary Jay Saha, can look forward to beginning their second innings in their respective current positions.
