Mushfiqur suffers injury during gym session
Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim injured himself during a gym session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
The 35-year-old got four stitches below his left knee around the shin bone. A member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical team also confirmed The Daily Star that the experienced cricketer will be under observation for minimum two weeks.
Mushfiqur recently announced his retirement from T20Is following criticisms and a dismal Asia Cup campaign earlier this month.
With Mushfiqur retired from the shortest format of the game, Bangladesh also announced a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup next month in Australia. It is the first time that Mushfiqur will not be a part of the Tigers' T20 World Cup squad.
The cricketer, however, remains an important member of the Tigers' Test and ODI side.
