We got a chance to have a short rendezvous with the spectacular owner, Nazifa Tabassum about her journey of building and making Glam Makeover a success.

Who is Nazifa Tabassum?

She is the founder of Glam Makeover by Nazifa Tabassum. Nazifa graduated from Brac University. Interestingly, she comes from a background where both her parents are microbiologists. She, too, never had an interest in makeup. It was during her undergrad days that she started doing touch ups. Throwing in a hue of blush, lipstick and a stroke of liner was her go-to makeup. Hyper and anxious by nature, Nazifa is an eager and quick learner.

How did Glam Makeover start?

One fine day, she thought of doing a makeover on people for a living. She really thought it over for a hot minute and the next thing you know, she has brought all the necessary equipment to start an in-house makeover business. From that minute, she slowly started building her dream business.

Inch by inch, she knitted her ideas into reality. She had to learn a lot of new things from scratch and she did all of them because she was in awe of the glamor industry. She wanted to make her own mark. Starting with only Tk 60,000, her revenue doubled in no time. Thanks to her unprecedented love of beautifying women and undying dedication to go big or go home.

What were the key obstacles and successes?

For starters, she knew no one from this industry. Her background and surroundings had no connection with this line of work. She had to develop them over time and with a lot of research. From products to models, she had caught blisters in her soles because of running back and forth to get it done.

Convincing her parents was not that big of a deal as they believed in their daughter's ambition. Nazifa had always been super responsible with her studies and even taught students so that was an addition to the level of diligence expected. Hence, she achieved microfinancing from her parents. As she had to deal with various people while building connections, she received a bit of a cultural shock but she overcame that rapidly.

Dealing with clients, vendors etc. was overwhelming but she got used to it and she believes she is still learning something new daily in this context. She is grateful that most of the clients are happy and satisfied with the results. She could actually understand what's good for them and help them with that.

For successes, she got the opportunity to be the make-up partner of Mirror Magazine and Bio-xin presents Business Leadership Awards 2022. Renowned individuals like Shilpa Shetty, Anupam Roy, Tahsan and honourable Minister of Commerce will be there.

She got nominated for the position of 'Fastest Growing Make Up Artist and Entrepreneur'.
