‘Govt-approved vehicle tracking systems can help in reducing road accidents’
Proper use of government-approved vehicle tracking systems (VTSs) can help in management of private, commercial and mass transport and control drivers' movement, which will eventually play a big role in reducing road accidents, an expert said today.
But people are not getting their desired tracking services and the government is deprived of revenue income because of the uncontrolled sales of unauthorised VTSs, said SM Golam Faruk Alamgir, president of Vehicle Tracking Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (VTSPAB).
He also recommended making it mandatory for vehicles to use only government-approved tracking systems.
Alamgir, also managing director of BDCOM Online Ltd, made the call in a press conference at La Vinci Hotel in Dhaka organised by BDCOM Online.
The event was organised to celebrate the 12th anniversary of partnership between BDCOM and Concox Information Technology Co. Ltd, the world's third largest VTS and Internet of Things device maker.
Internet service provider BDCOM launched VTS in Bangladesh in 2005 and the company teamed up with Concox in 2009, BDCOM said in a press release.
BDCOM Chairman Wahidul Haque Siddiqui and Concox Information's Regional Sales Director for South Asia Melody Chan were also present at the event.
