TikTok to soon introduce gaming on the platform: Reports

According to a latest the Financial Times report, popular short video platform TikTok will soon make available a gaming tab on its app that will let users play mobile games. According to the report, these games will have advertisements and users will be able to purchase extra content.

In May, TikTok began testing games there for the first time. According to the Financial Times, the TikTok's moderators in Europe were given the responsibility of testing games before their official launch.

On November 2, when TikTok is hosting its "first global gaming event" with the slogan "TikTok Made Me Play It," where an announcement is expected regarding the game offering. 

"The future of gaming is here—and it's happening on TikTok. Leading publishers are launching games on our platform as culturally relevant entertainment properties, building communities, and inspiring broader entertainment audiences to discover and play their games," reads a description on the event site.

In 2019, Snapchat introduced playable games before announcing that it would discontinue gaming in August. Facebook, too, will shut down its gaming platform soon. Netflix, which debuted its gaming offering a year ago, however, recently declared that it would double down, push harder into cloud gaming, and release more games.
