2 additional DIGs sent into forced retirement
Two Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police were sent into forced retirement this afternoon citing public interest, two weeks after three SPs also sent to retirement.
The Public Security Division of Home Ministry has issued two separate circulars today (October 31, 2022) in this regard.
They are Mahbub Hakim, additional DIG of Tourist Police, and Alamgir Alam, additional DIG of Criminal Investigation Department.
On October 18, three SPs were sent into retirement citing public interest, just two days after the information secretary was also sent on retirement.
The home ministry circulars invoked section 45 of Bangladesh Service Rules, 2018.
According to the section, upon the president's approval, the government can send an employee, who has completed 25 years of service, into retirement in public interest, without showing any specific reason.
