Death of Brahmanbaria JCD leader: Father sues 8 police personnel
Eight police personnel, including the superintendent of police (SP) in Brahmanbaria, were sued over the killing of a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist in alleged police firing in Bancharampur upazila on November 19.
Rafiqul Islam Nayan, 28, a vice-president of Sonarampur union JCD, under the upazila, shot dead allegedly by police during a BNP procession.
Ariful Haque Masud, a lawyer of Brahmanbaria District Judges' Court, confirmed the development to our local correspondent.
Rafiqul's father Rahamat Ullah filed the case with Bhahmanbaria Senior Judicial Magistrates' court in the district.
The judge will pass order on it in the afternoon, he said.
The accused in the case are: SP Anisur Rahman, Additional SP Mozammel Haque Reza, officer-in-charge of Bancharampur Police Station Nure Alam, Inspector (investigation) Tarun Kanti Dey, sub-inspectors-- Afzal Hossain Khan, Bikiron Chakma-- and constables—Biswajit Chandra Das, Shafiqul Islam.
