Inflation eases further in November

Inflation eased further to 8.85 per cent in November as prices of most of the food items were steady last month, data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) showed today.

Overall inflation was 8.91 per cent in October.

November was the third consecutive month consumer prices showed a downward trend since September. Inflation surged to a 10-year high of 9.52 per cent in August.

Food inflation declined to 8.14 per cent in November from 8.5 per cent the previous month.

However, consumers had to spend higher to buy non-food items. Non-food inflation rose to 9.98 per cent in November from 9.58 per cent the previous month, data by the BBS showed.

Planning Minister MA Mannan shared the data with media at his office today.
