Bangladesh has been making massive headways in the world; be it in fashion, sports or arts and entertainment. Joining the league of exceptionally talented individuals waving the red and green flag on the global stage are Sadia and Evan, who, a few days back, represented Bangladesh in a Portuguese dance competition.

The competition titled Temos Artista – Tradições which translates to "We have Artists: Traditions" was broadcasted live on RTP1 featured the Bangladeshi duo who performed traditional Bangladeshi and became the first individuals in history to don our nation's flag on Portuguese television. The competition featured sixteen teams in total from different nationalities including Bangladesh, Portugal, Egypt and Ukraine. The event was also graced by the president of the Bangladesh community of Porto, Shah Alam Kajol. Sadia and Evan have successfully made it past the first round into the second where a voting system will determine whether or not they make it to the semifinals.

Sadia Islam is currently studying International Relations in the University of Lisbon while Saiful Islam Evan is pursuing a master's degree in theatre and art media from Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa. The dynamic duo has their own careers when they are not dancing or studying. Sadia, who works as a Facebook customer representative for Teleperformance, started dancing at a very early age and has been doing so for over 13 years. Evan works in Majorel and has over two decade's worth of experience and was a runner-up in Channel i Shera Nachiye. Through their passion for dancing and the sheer determination to consistently improve, they have propelled their careers to the next level. Safe to say that the entire nation of Bangladesh will be rooting for them to win the entire thing.

While it's unfortunate that we won't be able to participate in the voting, an app for RTP1 called RTP play is available for Android and iOS, but Sadia was unsure as to whether people from Bangladesh can access the show through it. However, we can get live updates from the social media posts of Praca de Alegria, a morning show on RTP1 that covers Temos Artista.
