Who were the most talked about celebrities of 2022?
As 2022 comes to an end, many surprising events occurred in the lives of our favourite celebrities. While some gained international recognition, others simply failed to make any headlines this year. Let's take a moment to observe the five celebrities in Bangladesh, who were prominent in the limelight in 2022.
Chanchal Chowdhury
The king of expressions, Chanchal Chowdhury became the face of Bangladeshi showbiz. His fame surpassed the boundaries of Bangladesh and created a massive craze in neighbouring countries as well. Two of his films, released this year, "Paap Punno" and "Hawa", received an incredible reception from the audience. While the former brought him critical acclaim, the latter helped him garner immense fanfare.
"Shada Shada Kala Kala", the song from the movie "Hawa", became the anthem of Bangladesh for months on end upon its release.
The release of "Hawa" was also met with incredible hype, with the film going houseful for several months in theatres. Internationally, the film garnered a massive response, especially in India. "Hawa" was premiered in the Nandan-1 film centre, during the fourth Bangladesh Film Festival in Kolkata. Huge queues of audiences lined up in hopes of watching the film alongside Chanchal Chowdhury.
Following the tremendous success of "Hawa", Chanchal further added to his body of incredible work with the hit web-series "Karagar"—the second part of which was released recently.
Jaya Ahsan
After a long time, Jaya Ahsan's much-awaited film "Beauty Circus" was released this year. The actress did a wonderful job of highlighting the indomitable spirit of her character, Beauty, in the film. She also played Labonno, wife of eminent poet Jibananda Das in "Jhora Palok." Her film "Nakshi Kanthar Jomin" won accolades at the International Film Festival in Goa.
Jaya has worked on numerous films in India, for which she has captured multiple awards. Recently, the actress announced that she will be working with Pankaj Tripathi on an untitled Indian movie.
With both international projects and Tollywood movies in line, Jaya Ahsan remained one of the most talked about celebrities. The actress is currently awaiting the release of her Tollywood films including: "OCD", "Ardhangini", and "Kalantor." This year, she also became the Goodwill Ambassador of UNDP.
Badhan
Badhan impressed Anurag Kashyap with the teaser of "Guti", a Chorki web-series, going on to catch the attention of even more Indian filmmakers. She would go on to become the talk of the town when it was revealed that she would be working with Vishal Bharadwaj's "Khufiya". The teaser was released this year and a small glimpse of Badhan was enough to spark curiosity regarding her role in the film.
The actress also gained immense appreciation in a film festival in Spain, for her powerful performance in "Rehana Maryam Noor". Not only did she win appreciation from the audience at the festival, but she also laid her claim on the 'Best Actress' award at the festival as well.
Badhan's upcoming Chorki series, "Guti" will be released next year. She will be seen essaying the role of a drug smuggler, who gets caught up in the world of drug peddling.
Bidya Sinha Mim

Sariful Razz
One of the most promising actors of Dhallywood, Sariful Razz scored an incredible hattrick this year, releasing three amazing movies: "Poran", "Hawa" and "Damaal". Raihan Rafi's "Poran" would become a turning point in his career, as movie lovers fell in love with the ravishing ruffian, Roman.
"Poran" is still garnering appreciation in theatres across the country. This is the first time any actor has been able to make this much noise in theatres, with just a single movie. Apart from "Poran", everybody also appreciated Razz's performance as Munna in "Damal", where he swept audiences off their feet with his beautiful bicycle kick. In the same way, he filled audiences with joy, Razz also brought them to tears with his emotional performance in "Hawa".
As 2022 draws to a close, we can only look forward to what these five performers have in store for us in the upcoming year. Hopefully, by this time next year, we will be once again writing about their incredible ventures in 2023.
