Metro rail trains will have a reserved bogie for women: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said one of the coaches of trains of the newly inaugurated metro rail will be reserved for women.

The PM said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the first ever metro rail in Uttara.

There will also be separate washrooms for women and a care centre for children, the PM added.

Besides, freedom fighters will get to ride the trains free of cost, Sheikh Hasina revealed.

The PM also urged everyone to use the metro rail responsibly in neat and cleanly manner. She asked commuters not to litter inside trains and at stations.

Earlier, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader also said that there would be a separate bogie for women but they can also travel in other coaches if they wish.
