3 writers to receive IFIC Bank literary recognition
IFIC Bank has selected three eminent literary personalities to receive their Literary Award.
Among them, journalist and writer Mashiul Alam has been selected as the best writer for the IFIC Bank Literary Award 2020. Celebrated poet and researcher Aminul Islam and litterateur Swikrit Noman have been selected as the best writers for the IFIC Bank Literary Award 2021.
Mashiul Alam has been selected for his contemporary fiction, Dudh (Mowla Brothers, 2020); Aminul Islam, for his collection of essays in the nonfiction category for his work titled, Nazrul Sangeet: Banir Vaibhav (Agamee Prakashani, 2021); and Swakrito Noman in the fiction category for his novel, Ujanbanshi (Panjeree Publication, 2021).
IFIC Bank has been presenting this literary award since 2011 with the aim of recognising and inspiring literary works of living contemporary writers of Bangla language and literature with the slogan 'IFIC Bank is the companion of creative and introspective literature'. A selection committee and jury of prominent litterateurs and critics select the best two books every year.
The winners will be awarded a prize money of five lakhs taka, and a crest and certificate will be given to each in a ceremony organised by the bank's authority.
The Managing Director and CEO of IFIC Bank, Shah A Sarwar, has stated that IFIC has a cultural base; it is IFIC's responsibility to be involved with everything that is patriotic, is advantageous to and contributes to the welfare of the common people in this country.
"This literary award is organised every year for the continuation of that culture", he said.
For the past decade, this event of giving formal recognition to writers and litterateurs every year has already been widely appreciated in the literary community and among readers. It has gained wide acceptance among all.
