Cox’s Bazar hospital gets new outpatient department

A new outpatient department complex for the 250-bed district hospital in Cox's Bazar, funded by UNHCR, began operations yesterday.

UNHCR constructed, equipped and furnished the complex to provide timely lifesaving medical treatment and secondary care to Bangladeshis and Rohingya refugees, said a statement. Services will include eye and dental care and medical and surgical consultations. Modern lifts, fire-fighting system, and equipment will help enhance access to healthcare.

The outpatient department can facilitate surgeries, and orthopaedic, dental, and maternal and paediatric care, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
