Dhirendranath Dutta called for Bangla to be made the official language of the state
Dhirendranath Dutta, of Brahmanbaria's Ramrail village, placed his demand for honouring Bangla as a state language to the Gana Parishad in February 1948.
In the first phase of the Language Movement in 1948, Brahmanbaria had little impact. However, in the second phase in 1952, Brahmanbaria played a major role in the movement.
On the occasion of the 71st year of the movement, the history of the Language Movement in Brahmanbaria will be featured in today's Star Special
