The changing middle-class story

Editor’s note

The previous years have seen the Bangladeshi middle-class plunge into unforeseen difficulties. The fallout of a global pandemic, coupled with a raging war in Europe has created an economic slowdown that affects the life of an average Bangladeshi in more ways than one.

With this context in mind, this edition of The Daily Star's 32nd anniversary supplement-series focuses on the subject of The Changing Middle-Class Story, where we address the nuances of our lives, the various challenges we face, as well as the opportunities we have. From coping with an alarming price hike of essentials, an evolving health healthcare system, inspiring tales from the farms, to travelling on a budget — we present to you a kaleidoscope that is the experience of the Bangladeshi middle-class.

We hope that this special anniversary edition will shed some light on the issues that affect all of our lives.
