Rafiq is also widely regarded as one of the leading experts on Rabindranath Tagore in Bangladesh. His contributions to the study of Tagore's life and works have earned him the distinguished title of 'Rabindratattacharya' (Rabindra Exponent) from the Tagore Research Institute in Kolkata.
Rafiq's writings on the partition of Bengal have shed new light on this historic event. One of his most well-known books on the partition is 'Deshbibhag: Phire Dekha' (Partition: Looking back), which has been widely acclaimed for its insightful analysis and unique perspectives. Besides, he has edited several literary and scientific journals contributing to the dissemination of important ideas and insights in these fields.
