Gulshan fire under control
The fire that broke out at a residential building in Dhaka's Gulshan-2 this evening, leaving one killed and several others injured, has been brought under control.
Nineteen firefighting engines along with a team from Bangladesh Air Force brought the blaze under control at 11:00pm, said Khaleda Yeasmin, duty officer of the Fire Service Control Room.
The fire started around 7:00pm on the sixth floor of a 13-storey building on Road-104.
Firefighters rescued 22 people -- nine men, 12 women, and one child -- from the building so far, Shajahan Sikder, assistant deputy director of fire service, told The Daily Star.
Eight fire victims were admitted to the United Hospital in Gulshan. Another 6-7 were waiting to be admitted, the hospital's Customer Care Supervisor Nasir told The Daily Star.
