While Nibir Kumar—the son of noted musician Kumar Bishwajit—is still under observation at the ICU, following the massive accident in Canada, people on social media have been spreading rumours about the tragic incident.

Some netizens had speculated that Nibir did not have the proper documentation required to be driving on the roads of Canada, with some even alleging that Nibir did not even possess a driving licence at all.

Infuriated by the allegations, Kumar Bishwajit's brother, Avijit Dey took to his social media account to dispel all the rumours. He posted a picture of Nibir's driving licence, writing that the document was valid and that Nibir was permitted to drive on the road.

In his post, he also wrote, "Today I have something to talk about with the world, about what's happening with our family in this terrifying moment of our lives. Our Nibir is fighting for his life at St Michael's hospital in Toronto after a brutal crash, where he lost his 3 best friends: My loving Arian, Shreya and Mahir kakku. There has been some false news and false accusations against Nibir that shocked us and got my attention, concerning his drivers licence, vehicle registration and vehicle insurance."

According to Avijit, after the allegations arose, they had a meeting with an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer named Mark. This officer had clarified to them that Nibir's licence, registration and insurance were all valid.

Avijit would further go on to write, "My point is, why would you all be spreading false news on an ongoing investigation. I understand that Bangladesh media and people don't know about the rules and regulations of Canada, but those who already reside in Canada should all know that, without the required documentation, nobody can be allowed on the roads. So please, I request you all to be with our family at this terrifying moment instead of misleading people when there is no judgement being made by the Ontario Provincial Police on an ongoing investigation."

He also requested everyone to pray for the departed souls of those who tragically passed away and for everyone to keep Nibir in their thoughts during this critical moment of their family's lives.

The tragic accident, which took place on February 14, left three of Nibir's friends Shahriar Khan, Angela Baroi and Arian Deepto dead.
