Deepika and Katrina teaming up for spy film?
Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, who previously played Pakistani spies in "Pathaan" and "Tiger" respectively, could appear together in a YRF spy universe film. The writer of "Pathaan" said in a new interview that "there's definitely a plan to make a spy film with the women".
The YRF spy universe, produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, is an Indian shared universe centred on a series of spy action-thrillers, starring various fictional RAW agents. In a recent interview, Sridhar Raghavan, the writer of "Pathaan", hinted that a spy film starring Deepika's Rubai and Katrina Kaif's Zoya might be in the works. He noted that there was a vacuum in Bollywood for female-led spy films and that the makers wanted to fill it.
"There's no limitations here and we don't only plan on working with Hrithik, Shah Rukh sir and Salman sir. Rubai and Zoya are two other important characters in this universe," shared Sridhar.
Deepika's "Pathaan", which was released on January 25, broke several box office records, earning over Rs 1000 crore at the global box office in less than a month. Four years after his 2018 film "Zero", "Pathaan" would mark Shah Rukh Khan's return to the big screen in a lead role.
"Pathaan" has been directed by Siddharth Anand. Salman Khan also made a special appearance in the film as Tiger.
